NCW held the 3rd Regional Consultation at Guwahati (Assam) on, "Female Labour Force Participation in India" organized at National Law University & Judiciary Academy (NLUJA) in association with VV Giri National Law Institute on 06.02.2020. Spread over three sessions, the deliberations were over key concerns regarding FLFPR and Impact of existing Women related Legislations and Child Protection Policies. NCW Member Smt. Soso Shaiza was present at the Consultation and led one of the Sessions as well.

National Commission for Women (NCW) and UN Women organized a National Consultation on the Review of Beijing+25, to galvanize all stakeholders to implement actions that remove the most conspicuous barriers to gender equality. The aim of the consultation was to bring together civil society and the women and youth of India, gender equality advocates from all walks of life, in a national public conversation on the urgent actions that need to be taken for the realization of gender equality.

The National Commission for Women organized a Gender Sensitisation workshop for police officials of Andaman & Nicobar islands on 22nd October, 2019 . Smt. Rekha Sharma, Chairperson, National Commission for Women chaired the workshop and spoke about the role of police to curb the crimes against women and how to empathise with rape victims and treat them when they approach them for filing complaint.

#Karnataka | Today the National Commission for Women's Inquiry Committee, led by Smt. Rekha Sharma, visited #Hassan to investigate into the recent case of women bonded labourers rescued from a plantation in Savanthahalli Village.
The Committee met concerned district officers and some of the victims to ascertain the facts and circumstances of the case.

Our expert gender trainers Ms. Chetna Soni (Research Officer, NCW), Mr. Sarvesh Pandey (Counselor, NCW) . Ms. Avni Bahri (Junior Technical Expert, NCW) and Mr. Piyush Chhabra (Junior Technical Expert, NCW) conducted interactive sessions on a wide range of topics.The goal is to sensitize officers on gender issues and empower the police force with the ability to perform their duties more effectively and without prejudice and discrimination.

The 2nd Mahila Jan Sunwai was held at Police Line, #Agra and was chaired by Member Smt. Kamlesh Gautam.

Today, a team from NCW, led by Member Smt. Chandramukhi Devi, visited the victim in the hospital. The NCW team also met the mother of victim and assured that Commission will provide all possible help to ensure appropriate action is taken against the accused, as per law.
Additional Medical Superintendent has informed NCW that the hospital will continue providing the best medical treatment and facilities available.

Member Ms. Soso Shaiza attended a 'Consultation on Human Trafficking' organized by PRAYAS - to commemorate their 30 years journey of combating Human Trafficking- on 13.12.2018 in New Delhi. Survivors of human trafficking attended the programme and shared their stories.

The National Commission for Women (NCW) organized a one-day consultation regarding law review on “Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace” (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 on November 17th, 2018 in the premises of the National Commission for Women, New Delhi.
The National Commission for Women as per its mandates has been reviewing legal safeguards for women and recommending remedial legislatives measures.
In compliance with its mandates and considering the recent spurt in sexual harassment reported in the media, it was decided to take up the review of the POSH Act with a view to examine whether existing provisions of the Act require any amendments.
Experts including Justice Sujata Manohar (Retd.), Justice G. Rohini (Retd.), Prof. (Dr) G.S. Bajpai, Registrar, National Law University, New Delhi, Advocate Flavia Agnes, Advocate Madhu Mehra, Ms. Suneeta Dhar, Pam Pajput, Prof. (Dr.) Mrinal Satish, various other stakeholders attended the meeting to deliberate on the various lacunae identified in the Act and made recommendations for the proper implementation of the Act in addressing the issues of sexual harassment of women at all workplaces in the country.

As part of #vigilanceweek2018, Smt. Rekha Sharma administered the ''Integrity Pledge'' at the Commission today. National Commission for Women employees took the Pledge affirming their commitment to eradicate corruption and to uphold the highest standards of honesty and integrity at all times.

An online safety & #digitalliteracy workshop was conducted for National Commission for Women employees at the Commission on November 1st. #Cybersecurity experts from Cyber Peace Foundation highlighted the emerging threats online, the importance of promoting #digitalliteracy for women and raising awareness about #cybercrimes. Participants were also made aware of the recourse available to women to prevent and redress such crimes.


A consultation meeting on ‘Economic Rehabilitation of Women Deserted by NRI Husbands’ was organised by the National Commission for Women on 23/10/2018 at the Centre for Social Work, Panjab University, Chandigarh. The broad purpose of this meeting was to formulate a systematic plan of partnership between NCW and NGOs in #Punjab for measures towards rehabilitation of women and their children affected on account of various issues arising from #NRIMarriages

The National Commission for Women has convened a meeting with senior officials of Delhi Police at the Commission today with a view to strengthen coordination between the Commission and Delhi Police to collectively ensure safety for women in the capital. Senior officers of Delhi Police participated in this meeting.

This week is International Week of the Deaf and today representatives of the Indian Sign Language Research and Training Centre (ISLRTC) visited the Commission to raise awareness about the Deaf Community, sign languages, and the rights of deaf individuals.

These ‘Aayog Sakhis’ are part of a committee formed by the Madhya Pradesh State Commission for Women for speedy redressal of complaints at the block and district level. Aside from complaint redressal, ''Aayog Sakhis'' also work tirelessly to enable women to understand the method of access to the legal systems by conducting legal awareness programmes at district and sub-district levels in the state.

As part of the National Commission for Women’s (NCW) ongoing endeavor to bring a higher level of sensitivity among police personnel, the Commission conducted a one-day Gender Sensitization Training Programme for the Bihar Police force on 17th July at the Bihar Agriculture Management & Extension Training Institute (BAMETI), Patna, Bihar.


NCW organized gender sensitization workshop in Kerala Police Academy on 05.07.2018, 700 police officials / trainees attended the workshop.

The National Commission for Commission convened a two-day interactive meeting with the State Commissions for Women (SCW) that was held from 8th May to 9th May, 2018 at the Commission in New Delhi. On conclusion of the two-day conference of the NCW and State Women Commissions, six resolutions were passed for future course of action.
